At different stages of a sexual harassment lawsuit, the defendant can ask the court to dismiss the case or otherwise rule in his favor. Such motions can be brought soon after the case is filed, after the Discovery (investigation) phase of the lawsuit, during trial, and after trial is over.
Not only is sexual harassment illegal. The law also prohibits:
- Racial harassment
- Religious harassment
- Age-based harassment
- Harassment based on disability
- Harassment based on ethnicity or national origin
- Retaliation
Most people are familiar with workplace sexual harassment claims. Harassment in professional, business, and educational relationships are also illegal.
