
An employee is defined as a supervisor if he has the discretion and authority to do any of the following:
- To hire, transfer, promote, assign, reward, discipline, or fire other employees (or effectively to recommend any of these actions)
- To act on the grievances of other employees or effectively to recommend action on grievances
- To direct the plaintiff's daily work activities
Not only is sexual harassment illegal. The law also prohibits:
- Racial harassment
- Religious harassment
- Age-based harassment
- Harassment based on disability
- Harassment based on ethnicity or national origin
- Retaliation
Most people are familiar with workplace sexual harassment claims. Harassment in professional, business, and educational relationships are also illegal.
